2020 Fiat 124 Spider: Hit or Miss

Since 1966 when the first Fiat spider was made, The Spider has remained in the market due to numerous reasons including Affordability and its continuos desire to expand its market share.

The Spider itself is aimed at a younger population and its simplistic deign proves the point but in today’s post I would be analyzing and reviewing the Fiat to know if it is a hit or miss.

Meet the Spider

Spider has the classic sporty look

The Spider itself is not that bad but it lacks ample seating and storage space. The car itself offers fairly stable handling. a comfortable interior(for average height) and a fuel efficient turbo charged engine that most cars in it category, It is okay for most people but thrill seekers may have to look elsewhere to fulfill their guilty pleasure, the tech features are top notch and would suit almost all your infotainment needs.

Exterior Finesse

Al in all the Spider, has quite a sporty look with good looking headlights that would definitely light up your day (or night) although unlike most modern drop tops, the Spider does not offer a hardtop retractable roof which mat or may not suit some drivers depending on your preferences

Performance and Specs

The Fiat 124 Spider has a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 160 horsepower. A six-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive are standard on the base trim; a six-speed automatic is also available.

This turbo engine may seem small, but it does the job and there’s no doubt about that. There’s 184 pound-feet of torque on tap, and it offers adequate muscle for accelerating up to speed and passing other cars once the turbo kicks in. I really love the exhaust not as it seems to have a lovely xing

The Spider’s manual transmission is a quite enjoyable , thanks to its slick action and tightly spaced gears. The six-speed automatic transmission is pretty good as well and gives the car a very sporty feel; its gear changes are smooth and prompt, though it sometimes upshifts too soon, but a few drives and you would get the hang on it

Gas Efficiency

The Fiat leads the class in gas mileage as it offers a decent  26 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway when equipped in its manual transmission. when equipped with its automatic transmission it offers 25 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway

These estimates are given by EPA

Road Balance is a plus for the spider and it excels very well in this category compared to its rivals Its suspension soaks up bumps and dips in the pavement, yielding an unusually smooth and relaxing ride for a sports car. it may still present a slight, or hardly noticeable reluctance on windy roads though and if you want perfect handling then the Abarth model might come in handy

Tech and Comfort

In Conclusion,

The Fiat Spider is a nice car that would suit most young people and it offers good value for money, but it does lack in some ways such as the limited Space and storage and it is quite inexpensive for its class.
